The question says “according to the following graphic”, however the graphic shows all routers as being in area 0 and there is no output to show the hello and dead intervals. We cannot therefore deduce answers C and D from the graphic.

The rules for OSPF adjacencies to form is that they must be in the same:
- Subnet
- Subnet Mask (which means same wildcard mask)
- Hello & Dead Timers
- Same network types

So, based on the answer choices we must pick: C (different area) & D (different hello & dead timers)

All areas in an Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) autonomous system must be physically connected to the backbone area (Area 0). In some cases, where this is not possible, you can use a virtual link to connect to the backbone through a non-backbone area. You can also use virtual links to connect two parts of a partitioned backbone through a non-backbone area. The area through which you configure the virtual link, known as a transit area, must have full routing information. The transit area cannot be a stub area. This document examines the OSPF database in a virtual link environment. You can read more about virtual links in the OSPF Design Guide.

Could you be at least moderately specific? These are potential problems that the two routers could have. All we know is that they sit in the same area physically, but that doesn’t mean that they are CONFIGURED in the same area. The hello and dead timers being off is also a common test and sim question (problem) so both of these answers are plausible and correct. Configuring backbone area 1 is nonsense and configuring for EIGRP will not cause OSPF to work since it is a different protocol.

Thanks 9tut!!! Most of the questions where from this site. For OSPF I had another question, something like “What are the advantages of single area OSPF?” one of the answer was that the type o LSA that routers have to handle is less. Sorry can’t remember the other, but I went for exclusion.

What are two enhancements that OSPFv3 supports over OSPFv2? (Choose two.)

A. It requires the use of ARP.
B. It can support multiple IPv6 subnets on a single link.
C. It supports up to 2 instances of OSPFv3 over a common link.
D. It routes over links rather than over networks.

I see examtut says that it’s B, D but the premium vce file in examcollections says it is B, D.

Acho que a resposta era: network 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 area 0 .

No mais, todas as questões do 9tut, inclusive os laboratórios.

Q: What are the two benefits of using a single ospf area in network design?

I forgot the choices but does anyone have the correct answer to this? Please help. Thanks.
