Here you will find answers to Trouble Shooting Questions (Part 2)

Question 1:

A network administrator is troubleshooting the OSPF configuration of routers R1 and R2. The routers cannot establish an adjacency relationship on their common Ethernet link. The graphic shows the output of the show ip ospf interface e0 command for routers R1 and R2. Based on the information in the graphic, what is the cause of this problem?

showipospfinterface

A. The OSPF area is not configured properly.
B. The priority on R1 should be set higher.
C. The cost on R1 should be set higher.
D. The hello and dead timers are not configured properly.
E. A backup designated router needs to be added to the network.
F. The OSPF process ID numbers must match.

Answer: D

Question 2:

This graphic shows the results of an attempt to open a Telnet connection to router ACCESS1 from router Remote27. Which of the following command sequences will correct this problem?

telnet

A. ACCESS1(config)# line console 0
ACCESS1(config-line)# password cisco
B. Remote27(config)# line console 0
Remote27(config-line)# login
Remote27(config-line)# password cisco
C. ACCESS1(config)# line vty 0 4
ACCESS1(config-line)# login
ACCESS1(config-line)# password cisco
D. Remote27(config)# line vty 0 4
Remote27(config-line)# login
Remote27(config-line)# password cisco
E. ACCESS1(config)# enable password cisco
F. Remote27(config)# enable password cisco

Answer: C

Question 3:

Refer to the exhibit. A network administrator attempts to ping Host2 from Host1 and receives the results that are shown. What is a possible problem?

ping

A. The link between Host1 and Switch1 is down.
B. TCP/IP is not functioning on Host1
C. The link between Router1 and Router2 is down.
D. The default gateway on Host1 is incorrect.
E. Interface Fa0/0 on Router1 is shutdown.
F. The link between Switch1 and Router1 is down.

Answer: C

Explanation:

In this question, Host1 wants to ping Host2 but it receives a reply from the interface Fa0/0 of Router1 (10.1.1.1/24) that the “destination host unreachable”.

If the link between Host1 and Switch1 is down or the link between Switch1 and Router1 is down then Host1 can not receive this reply -> A and F are not correct.

Host1 can receive a reply from 10.1.1.1 -> the TCP/IP is working properly -> B is not correct.

For answer D, if the default gateway was not configured correctly on Host1 (in this case the default gateway should be 10.1.1.1/24) then 10.1.1.1 can not receive the ping packets from Host1 and can not reply for Host1 that the destination is unreachable -> D is not correct.

Interface Fa0/0 on Router1 replies for the ping packets from Host1 so it is up -> E is not correct. If the interface Fa0/0 on Router is shutdown then we will receive a message of “Request timed out”, not “Destination host unreachable”.

Answer C is correct because we can get a reply from the interface Fa0/0 of Router1 so the link between Host1 and Router1 should be fine -> the problem lies at the other side of Router1. But if the link between Router2 and Host2 is down then we will receive a reply from interface S0/1 of Router2 that the “destination host unreachable”. Therefore the problem can just be the link between Router1 and Router2.

Question 4:

Refer to the exhibit. Hosts in network 192.168.2.0 are unable to reach hosts in network 192.168.3.0. Based on the output from RouterA, what are two possible reasons for the failure? (Choose two)

showipinterfacebrief

A. The cable that is connected to S0/0 on RouterA is faulty.
B. Interface S0/0 on RouterB is administratively down.
C. Interface S0/0 on RouterA is configured with an incorrect subnet mask.
D. The IP address that is configured on S0/0 of RouterB is not in the correct subnet.
E. Interface S0/0 on RouterA is not receiving a clock signal from the CSU/DSU.
F. The encapsulation that is configured on S0/0 of RouterB does not match the encapsulation that is configured on S0/0 of RouterA.

Answer: E F

Question 5:

When upgrading the IOS image, the network administrator receives the exhibited error message. What could be the cause of this error?

copytftpflash

A. The new IOS image is too large for the router flash memory.
B. The TFTP server is unreachable from the router.
C. The new IOS image is not correct for this router platform.
D. The IOS image on the TFTP server is corrupt.
E. There is not enough disk space on the TFTP server for the IOS image.

Answer: B

@ icy Well (c) is the same as you wrote
    C. ACCESS1(config)# line vty 0 4
    ACCESS1(config-line)# login
    ACCESS1(config-line)# password cisco

so it is correct. You can not access Access1 router because probably configuration on line is something like this
    C. ACCESS1(config)# line vty 0 4
    ACCESS1(config-line)# login
    ACCESS1(config-line)# no password

@Rico, Q4 isn’t that difficult to understand and all you have to do is look at if the issues is physical(the first status) or is protocol related (the second status). If its the first it’s going to deal with cable problem which could be a lose cable, incorrect cable, etc. With the line protocol down it’s going to relate to anything you can’t physically touch. Like, the encapsulation used, the clock rate, or the incorrect hello and dead times, etc. I hope this helps.

    @doubt

we have a timed out connection.that means you try to connect somewhere and you receive no reply

A: i guess while transferring the new IOS you would get an error that flash doesn’t have space for it
C: That would be an error having finished transferring it and being in process of installing it
D: that would be an error again while trying to install it
E: you transfer a file from TFTP to flash not the opposite

free iphone 5 opothsHey there this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    @9tut
Q4 B F should be the correct choices. If Router B has its S0/0 link administratively shutdown on Router A the S0/0 output will have up/down. Choice E is incorrect because there is no CSU/DSU listed in diagram. Router B is acting like a CSU/DSU by providing clocking but is not a CSU/DSU device.

  24. FML
    August 29th, 2012

    @CCNA

    Wrong.

Try the test on a real router.

Option “B” refers to Ser 0/0 being administratively shutdown on Router B which will result Router A in ser 0/0 down, line protocol down (Or considered hard-down)

Just because you connect a cable to an interface does not bring it up, it has to recieve a signal from the other end, it will not receive a signal if the other end is administratively shutdown. The CSU/DSU is internal to the Controller of the Serial Interface.

CCNA? You have no idea what you are talking about, try it on a real router.

question what is the advantage of using multi point than using point subinterfaces in frame relay

  26. Sahan
    September 4th, 2012

@maged Sub Interfaces would be a cheaper alternative than Multi Point

  27. Sahan
    September 5th, 2012

@maged Ignore my first post pls

Multi Point interfaces in frame relay are susceptible for split horizon ( wiki -> method of preventing routing loops in distance-vector routing protocols by prohibiting a router from advertising a route back onto the interface from which it was learned), either you disable split horizon or you can use
Sub interfaces and not be prevented from sending updates due to split horizon

    Q4 = E & F

Down / Down –> A. The cable that is connected to S0/0 on RouterA is faulty.
Administratively Down / Down –> B. Interface S0/0 on RouterB is administratively down.
Up / Up –> C. Interface S0/0 on RouterA is configured with an incorrect subnet mask.
Up / Up –> D. The IP address that is configured on S0/0 of RouterB is not in the correct subnet.

    ABOUT MY EXAM:
    I had total of 50 questions….
Had three simulations….ACL2, same as here at 9tut but modified as the third table of modifications above and i was dealing with host B plus different IP addresses, EIGRP almost the same as here, had to change the AS in router Home 2 from somethng 21 to 221 and add the appropriate networks also i had to delete and add some networks from router Home 1 (central router) and finaly the VTP…same as here just different question to follow the same procedures in resolving
NB: i ddnt see anythng that i had not come across before

for any other enquiries find me at ropamson@gmail.com …..best of luck for everybody working on CCNA

@9tut, I think it would be very helpful to add this explanation from Lurker to question 4:

    Q4 = E & F
Up / Down –> E. Interface S0/0 on RouterA is not receiving a clock signal from the CSU/DSU.
Up / Down –> F. The encapsulation that is configured on S0/0 of RouterB does not match the encapsulation that is configured on S0/0 of RouterA.

I’m part of a small group studying for the CCNA exam…which we will take in a couple of weeks. We are using 9Tut (premium) with the sims.

    Q. Will using only 9tut get us through the exam or should we use 9tut with something like Prepking or TestKing to prepare us? Any help would be greatly appreciated…. before I spend the $99 on a test engine.

  42. Q3. The default gateway on Host1 is incorrect.
    January 22nd, 2013

“For answer D, if the default gateway was not configured correctly on Host1 (in this case the default gateway should be 10.1.1.1/24) then 10.1.1.1 can not receive the ping packets from Host1 and can not reply for Host1 that the destination is unreachable -> D is not correct.”

Host1 and default gateway are on the same subnet, so Host1 do not need a default gateway to ping the router interface. It is basic network!!!?
