Exactly what San said, learn your concepts and really understand the material. Don’t just brain dump, understand everything behind it. I used 9tut mainly for their tutorials. Also, just passing without the actual knowledge will screw you when you look for a job. Best of luck to everyone; don’t give up or lose hope, it isn’t that hard if you focus!

I have two questions. Please help me to answer it.

1.How could you obtain CDP information about a remote device that is not directly connected?
    A. Use the command show cdp neighbors’ address.
    B. Use the command show cdp neighbors’ hostname.
    C. Use SSH or Telnet to access a Cisco device connected to the target device.
    D. It is not possible to obtain CDP information about a remote device.

2–If a router does not match the appropriate address portions to a number on its routing table, it _____.
    A. sends the packet back to the sender
    B. passes the packet to the next router in the hierarchy
    C. adds that number to its table
    D. discards the packet

    @ramos

For the first question i think the answer is C, you can use SSH or telnet to connect to a router connetcted with that devices and run CDP from there.

For the second i think the correct answer is D….if a packet don’t match any route and is not present a default route the packet is discarded…

Thanks 9tut, the questions might not be exactly the same, but the concept behind it still the same. Sims ACL 1 & 2, EIGRP. My recommendation, do the quizzes, they will help you out A LOT!! So just study up, and put some effort on it.

LAB SIM are eigrp, acl2 and acl
    eigrp as number is 12
acl2 is mod 3 but host is changed to host b and ip address is changed.

    Question 9
Gateway of last resort is not set
    192.168.25.0/30 is subnetted, 4 subnets
    D 192.168.25.20 [90/2681856] via 192.168.15.5, 00:00:10, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.16 [90/1823638] via 192.168.15.5, 00:00:50, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.24 [90/3837233] via 192.168.15.5, 00:05:23, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.28 [90/8127323] via 192.168.15.5, 00:06:45, Serial0/1
    C 192.168.15.4/30 is directly connected, Serial0/1
    C 192.168.2.0/24 is directly connected, FastEthernet0/0
Which address and mask combination a summary of the routes learned by EIGRP?
    A. 192.168.25.0 255.255.255.240
    B. 192.168.25.16 255.255.255.252
    C. 192.168.25.0 255.255.255.252
    D. 192.168.25.28 255.255.255.240
    E. 192.168.25.16 255.255.255.240
    F. 192.168.25.28 255.255.255.240
    Explanation
We have 4 routes learned by EIGRP:
    D 192.168.25.20 [90/2681856] via 192.168.15.5, 00:00:10, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.16 [90/1823638] via 192.168.15.5, 00:00:50, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.24 [90/3837233] via 192.168.15.5, 00:05:23, Serial0/1
    D 192.168.25.28 [90/8127323] via 192.168.15.5, 00:06:45, Serial0/1
These subnets are all /30 (as it says “192.168.25.0/30 is subnetted, 4 subnets”. We have 4 successive subnets = 2^2 so we can go back 2 bits -> the summarized subnet mask is 30 – 2 = 28 and the summarized network is 192.168.25.16.

Can anyone please explain if 4 successive subnets = 2^2, then how about if 6 successive subnets? Or 8 successive subnets? so value to ^2 or 2^ to value?

    Topic: test only missed questions

Overall 9tut provides a very good environment for preparing for the CCNA test.

I would like to make one suggestion:
Provide a mechanism where the person preparing can retake missed questions only instead of all the questions of a quiz.

It is well known that a person preparing for a test should not waste time studying or retesting material that they know.

If tracking the missed questions would be too onerous then a work around might be to allow me to create a custom quiz from the existing questions.

Thanks for all your hard work maintaining this website for such a reasonable cost.
    Ben

  48. Ben Benson
    September 9th, 2014

    To atut:
    4 successive subnets = 2^2
    6 successive subnets = 2^3 since 6 < 8
    8 successive subnets = 2^3
    9 successive subnets = 2^4 since 9 < 16
    etc

The successive subnets are powers of 2.

  49. atut
    September 10th, 2014

    To Ben Benson:
    So…
For 6 and 8 successive subnets, the summarized subnet mask is what?
For 9 successive subnets, the summarized subnet mask is what?

    Thanks in advance for explaining.
